The Bay State Greenway statewide system of bicycle routes is being developed by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, with approximately 200 miles of existing shared-use paths, and 300 more proposed. Priority projects include the Wayside Trail in central Mass, the Mohawk Trail in the Berkshires, the Southampton Greenway, the Quequechan River Bike Path, the Mattapoisett Rail Trail, the Neponset River Greenway, the Hyannis Transportation Center Connector, the Salisbury Rail Trail Extension, the Border to Boston Trail, the Wayside Trail , the Bruce Freeman Trail, Reformatory Branch Trail and the Somerville Comunity Bike Path.
